How to Improve Your Chances of Creating Change Successfully

Deciding to create change in your life or work rarely comes with an absolute guarantee of success. So it helps to have a strategy to set yourself up to succeed.

If there is a change you want to create in your life or work here is a simple and effective way to improve your chances of achieving it:

Step 1 - Before you start on your change project, identify as many things you can think of that that could get in your way, hold you back, or stop you from achieving the results you want to achieve. Brainstorm everything you can think of.

Step 2 – Use whatever comes up for you in step 1 to form a plan to put things in place to either eliminate those things, reduce their risk of happening, or to have a process to manage them effectively should they arise.

Step 3 – Implement your plan. Take action. Identify boundaries you need to put in place to protect the change you are going to be working on as much as possible.

Step 4 - In addition to doing these steps at the start of your change project, review and repeat them regularly as you move forward and navigate the path of change. Doing this will help you to be proactive in dealing with any potential setbacks, obstacles, and challenges on an ongoing basis which will support you in keeping your path forward as clear as possible.

Proactively identifying what could sabotage your progress and results and taking action to deal with those things will help you to improve your chances of creating change successfully.
